DSL
Now Playing: People are people - Depeche Mode
Topic: work
I monitored our DSL bandwidth usage again, and it's still maxing out at around 260kbps. :-(

Gotta follow this up with Richie of Bayantel again.

TPC's printer
Mood:  amorous
Topic: work
TPC complained to me that her printer doesn't work.

Turned out that the paper source lever wasn't set correctly.

Took me 2 minutes to fix the problem, 5 minutes to show her (since I had to fetch her from the GM's office where she approached me).

I just remembered, I prepared day 21 of the Power Bills for Abdon, and uploaded and downloaded his Rover 1000 data.

Spent about 15 minutes on this because someone created another RED.Ann file ahead of me. I had to get rid of the duplication because it might create problems later on.

RAJE's Epson LQ-2180 printer

Mariliz told me the printer wouldn't work.

I found it with a 14" continuous form "fed" halfway through, and it wouldn't eject nor feed it properly in. I turned the printer off and manually reversed the form out the back.

I switched on the printer, and the form was fed automatically, with a bonus form feed (1 page skipped). I asked Mariliz to print something, and it worked fine.

Work done. Spent less than 10 minutes, including the wait for Mariliz to come back. :-)

Spent around 20 minutes putting back the covers on the CPU's I "unearthed" yesterday while troubleshooting RAJE's "upload/download" PC, and replacing them back to their "warehouse" places near my "booth/workstation."

Another wire got cut inside the same end of the cable. Resoldered it in about 13 minutes.

RAJE1 PC
Mood:  irritated
Topic: work
RAJE personnel transferred to the newly renovated (but still lightless) room.

In the process, they managed to pull out 2 internal wires from the serial cable for Psion handheld computers.

So I fixed the cable and reinforced it, but couldn't test it because their "upload/download" PC wouldn't boot.

I tried every conceivable thing, to no avail. I tried changing power supplies, RAM, reseating cards, etc. I tried OTHER computers, but none of them won't boot.

In the end, I tried Avern's computer (from Accounting Section). I turned it off and brought it down to the RAJE room. It wouldn't boot! That's when I tested the output voltage of the AVR used on that station, and voila! Alvin Capulong plugged the two (2) PC's into the 110v socket, so that's why the old "upload/download" PC wouldn't boot! Who would've thought, when one computer was perfectly working using the same socket? :-(

In the end, the "upload/download" PC's Hard disk failed to boot. Good thing I configured 2 other HD's for the same PC.

Whew! Took me 3 hours and 43 minutes for that job!

Alvin better not show me his face tomorrow.

Atty. Macalino's PC
Mood:  chatty

Liza called me to tell me that Atty. Mac's PC wouldn't switch on.

I thought there was trouble, but I discovered the UPS was *NOT switched on*. So how can the PC boot if there's no power from the UPS? :-)

That was fast, less than 5 minutes.
