My Workstation
Topic: work
I'll be requesting for a replacement office chair. I discovered 2 days ago that my current chair's back support mounting has cracked open. No wonder my back keeps on aching! :-(

Here's the angle of its back support. See how it leans away from the back of the sitting person?

Here's the mounting of the back support. Notice how big the crack is?

Liza's PC
Topic: work
Her PC would not boot, it displayed this:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\System32\Drivers\Isapnp.sys"

MS website says the file is really damaged, but I wonder how it was damaged. :-(

Then while troubleshooting the PC myself, the "damaged" file changed to "pci.sys"

Good thing I know for a fact that RAM errors can cause such errors (and corresponding error msgs to appear). After a few restarts, the one error message that XP (and MS) is aware of that is caused by faulty RAM appeared.

After > 1 hour of "remote" and actual troubleshooting, I concluded that one of the the two (2) DDR modules is damaged. So I removed it and the PC booted up.

Mission accomplished.

Microsoft server crash nearly causes 800-plane pile-up
Failure to restart system caused data overload.

By Matthew Broersma, Techworld

A major breakdown in Southern California's air traffic control system last week was partly due to a "design anomaly" in the way Microsoft Windows servers were integrated into the system, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Javascript
Topic: work
Hmmm... this javascript thing is getting interesting. All those things I can do on a web page! Yes!

I'm also resuming my study of SQL, in anticipation of our purchase of an Enterprise system whose supplier supports Linux and MySQL, along with Palm and PPC devices for meter reading.

Goodness!!!

I've started studying JavaScript so I can resume construction of our company website.

Hmmm... that reminds me, the GM hasn't given me feedback on how we will advertise the yahoogroup for our interruption announcement.
