Consumer Bill Viewer
Mood:  happy
Topic: work

Yes!!!

Now my Consumer Bill Viewer is complete with sub-totals!  I just hope I left no isolated cases that will screw up the sub-totals.

One gripe, though: Why can't I have it all?  In IE 6, the row borders displayed correctly, but not the column widths at the top!  In Firefox, all the rows have borders :-(

Anyway, at least my intended purpose is served.

Alleluia!!!

It took 800+ lines of php/html code, btw.

Our employees need driving seminars
Mood:  irritated
Topic: work

Just take a look how the driver of mobile 26 parked his vehicle in our company garage.

Yes, I know, you can still pass, but man, that's not a delineated parking slot.  Jeez!

Here's another angle, this time from below:

Consumer Bill Viewer
Mood:  hungry
Topic: work

Finished in less than 7 hours (discontinuous, mind you).  Now everyone can view a Billing Statement (current bill Pane only, no Arrears) within the LAN.

Thanks to PHP and its authors... :-)

I'm planning on  improving the code to allow Group Totals, just like the original Bill printout.

For now, it's main purpose will be served, i.e., to allow viewing of individual charges.

Treo 650
Mood:  chatty
Topic: work

I just realized that ever since I acquired my Treo 650 smartphone (July 22, 2005), I have become too busy to post here.  Perhaps I've become too obsessed in configuring it to my taste, no?

To my readers (if there are any), I'd recommend this smartphone in a heartbeat.  It has everything you'll ever need (well, except 3G, but hey, that technology is still a baby).  You can view and edit M$ Office documents on the go, listen to MP3s, watch videos, play games, organize your schedule (of course, that's a given on PALM-based PDA's), and many more!

I just love Palm OS!

Payment Editor
Mood:  chatty
Topic: work

Whew!   Finally, I am satisfied with what I can do with my Payment Editor.

I wrote this program to aide in correcting data entry errors by tellers/bank collection encoder(s).  I noticed that I had been typing in the same SQL commands/queries over and over during these error correction sessions with Agnes (who checks the collection reports and is in charge of adjusting the errors).

Finally, I've had enough typing 4 select queries per O.R.!  So I wrote... <drum roll> Samboy's Payment Editor (TM).  <g>

I completed the program in less than 2 weeks (discontinuous coding sessions, sometimes several few-minute long sessions in one day).

I still have few improvements (and automatic changes) to do, but hey, it serves me well enough as it is.  I can even use it to DELETE all payment details when it's faster to re-input the payment.

Yes! Now I've got 7 certifications from BrainBench! I'll be using them for my job applications in NZ, AU, or SINGAPORE. :-)

Man, it's almost been a year since my last blog entry! Have I been that much more abused?!?!?!

RAJE2 PC
Topic: work
Spent 1 hour and 15 minutes fixing RAJE2 PC (yesterday's subject PC).

I let them use AGD's old PC which was supposed to be used by Mr. Chin at the warehouse. Now Mr. Chin has a chance to get a faster machine. :-)

I originally tried to reinstall the O.S. so that I can erase AGD's old data, but then after several tries where the O.S. would complain about the HD having an old O.S. bla-bla, and upon realizing that the HD is only a 4GB-er, I transferred the ruined RAJE2 PC's orig. HD and then I just reinstalled all the "misaligned" drivers.

I plan to pull out the CD-ROM drive, though, when Mr. Chin's PC will be installed. :-)

Too much work!
Topic: work

I haven't been able to update this blog in almost a month!!!

I gotta work on making the bosses realize just how demanding my work as SysAd is! Add to that my responsibilities as the go-to guy when it comes to making regulatory reports and statistical reports and other technical stuff.

Man, they don't know how much hard work it is to keep updated on current technologies, not to mention upcoming ones, along with having to babysit users and workstations and servers!

All I wanna do when I get home is relax and/or go to sleep! I'm losing precious quality time with my kids who are in the age when they NEED it the most! :-(

RAJE's PC
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: work
Rico yesterday reported to me that RAJE's PC #1 (used for downloading Rover files from the billing system) is not detecting its hard disk. He told me that he tried the hard disk on his PC and it was working, and that the RAJE PC didn't detect another HD that he tried on it.

So I opened up the case and tried the secondary IDE connection but it wouldn't work also.

Upon further inspection, I found some moist, sooty dirt all over the motherboard, so I cleaned it out with WD-40.

After around 16 hours (late morning of today), I tried it again, and it was STILL not detecting its original HD, but it detected another HD which is a non-working one AFAIK.

I therefore conclude that we need to replace the unit (the whole box) because it might have already been damaged way beyond recovery -- it might even damage hard disks in its current condition.

Spent about an hour in total, installing Crys Rep 7 (tried version 8, futile attempt, was taking too long to extract the files from the .zip) on Glopm workstation, in preparation for Gina's installation of vBackOffice, some program she did for Glopm.
